Talk:Predictions
From Atlanta Water Shortage Wiki
This is the only place where you can find this kind of data. It is an excellent page. Clarifies the situation somewhat misleadingly reported in the main media.
Actually the deadpool indicators are important. You've got to consider that the people of Cumming, Gainesville, Forsyth and Gwinnett County will be concerned about the deadpool situation. Why not put something like:
- Deadpool Predictions - These are predictions of when the water level in Lake Lanier will reach the deadpool stage - 1035 feet above sea level. This is the point at which most power generation at Buford Dam will stop. However water can still be released as normal for Atlanta and areas which obtain their water from the Chattahoochee River, south of Buford Dam. The water is released from the bottom of the deadpool.
- Note: It has been widely reported that below the deadpool level water for Atlanta would be less easily accessible. This actually applies to those areas which take their water directly from Lake Lanier: the cities of Cumming and Gainesville, and Forsyth County, and to a lesser extent, Gwinnett County. In these cases barges and pumps will be required. Andysoh 17:32, 15 December 2007 (CST)
ACE 167 day prediction
'The "167 day" prediction is from a less widely publicized statement on 12/06/2007 by the ACE that there were now 167 days of usable water in Lake Lanier. We do not know if it is depth or volume based.'
Has anyone attempted to establish what the ACE really meant? e.g. what is the fallacy (in the ACE's opinion) to the "Total Volume Predictor of 430.39 days of water remaining in the lake (as of today) or the Lanier Seasonal Predictor? Andysoh 18:39, 18 December 2007 (CST)
